Education Careers
Program Overview: Students take Principles of Teaching, Childhood and Adolescent Development, and Teaching and Learning.
Students gain a foundation for working with children in the field of teaching and other related careers. They learn different theories of child development and gain authentic field experience in classroom settings. Students develop activities using best practices, instructional strategies, and technology.
Education Capstone: The capstone experience is embedded into the second year of the program where students can gain experience in an elementary level classroom setting. Students travel to the classroom and assist the classroom teacher in instruction and lesson planning.
Dual Credit - This pathway has the potential to earn dual credit with Ivy Tech: EDUC 101 (3 credit hours), EDUC 121 (3 credit hours), EDUC 201 (3 credit hours), EDUC 230 (3 credit hours)

Connection to future career path: Primary or Secondary Teacher

Early Childhood
Program Overview: Courses required for this program included Principles of Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Educations Curriculum, and Early Childhood Education Guidance.
Students develop skills and knowledge to work with children 0 – PreK. They explore child development, teaching preparation, and basic childcare theories. Students gain hands-on experience through field experiences in childcare settings.
Early Childhood Education Capstone: Students have the opportunity to work with and as preschool teachers with Community Schools of Frankfort, Heritage Childcare Ministries, and St. Matthews Preschool.
Certifications: There is the potential to earn CDA certification upon successful completion of the capstone course
Dual Credit - This pathway has the potential to earn dual credit with Ivy Tech: ECED 100 (3 credit hours), ECED 101 (3 credit hours), ECED 103 (3 credit hours), ECED 130 (3 credit hours)
