Construction
Students begin the following pathways with Principles of Construction Trades. Following that they can branch out into Carpentry or Civil Construction. The Principles of Construction course covers topics such as basic safety, communication skills, and introduction to construction drawings. Students focus on horizontal construction, equipment, safety, surveying and soils.
Students will also study topics such as building materials, fasteners, adhesives, hand and power tools.
Carpentry
Program Overview: Courses include Principles of Construction Trades, Construction Trades: General Carpentry, and Construction Trades: Framing and Finishing.
Students learn basic carpentry skills necessary for home construction and maintenance. They will use these skills, safety procedures, and blueprints to build a local home from start to finish.
Construction Trades Capstone: The capstone experience is embedded in the last year of the program with a local house build project. Students get real-life experience and training while building a house for a local family.

Civil Construction
Program Overview: The program for this pathway includes Principles of Construction Trades, Civil Construction Fundamentals, and Advance Civil Construction.
Students learn about heavy equipment and highway construction in horizontal construction. They explore the differences between residential and commercial vertical construction and road/highway civil construction. Students learn how to use heavy equipment used in road/highway construction.
Certifications: The NCCER Heavy Highway Construction Level 1 certificate and wallet card may be awarded upon successful completion of the Advanced Civil Constructions course. Level 1 Skid Steer Certification, Level 1 Mini Excavator Certification, Flagging Certification. OSHA 10 (construction) Certification
Civil Construction Capstone: The capstone for this pathway is included as more advanced training and instruction within the field. Work-based learning experience at one of the partner organizations can also be an option for students completing a capstone.

Connection to future career path: Surveyor, Laborer, Engineer, Heavy Equipment Operator, Road worker
Post-Secondary Options (this list is not exhaustive): Apprenticeship program, Trade School, Macallister CAT Think Big program or college courses to help their workers gain future certification and growth in job opportunities
